Busy Three Weeks… Here Are the Updates

by Ryan Canestro on Sep.01, 2010, under Studio News

Mo Carrey has been in the studio for 6 sessions.  We have finished the first mix tape and most of the second.  The album is next.  Last night he brought in Big Ron, The Professor, and J Maro.

Travis Jay was here for a session.  The sessions are getting seriously big now.

Bud Berning brought in Jamie Drake and Sally Jaye for backing vocals on his project Black Kettle.  These girls can sing!

Kevin Pugh was in for a full day and we got a final mix for his first single to release.

Dead Letter Six was here for two consecutive sessions to record drums, bass, keys, guitars, and backing vocals.  Guitars and final vocals coming soon.

Justified Cause was in for a marathon 13 hour session.  We tracked 16 songs over two sessions with 4 guitar tracks per song.  Do that math!

Harlequin Bureau was here to recreate the beat behind a beautiful piano ballad that now has some great energy.

Today I just picked up a Wurlitzer organ.  I have no idea where I am going to put it, but I will find a place for it!

HB In Studio Twice This Week

by Ryan Canestro on Aug.09, 2010, under Studio News

HB is band and is ready to finish up a few projects that had been ready for final touches for quite a while now.  With some fresh vocals, some minor arrangement changes, and a small slide guitar part, it looks like we have finished up Train.  Next up will be laying fresh vocals on Balcony and that one too will be in the can.  It feels great to finish up a couple projects that were starting to collect dust.  Now on to the new stuff!

HB Back For 2nd Session This Week!

by Ryan Canestro on Jan.22, 2010, under Studio News

On day two this week we added guitars, strings, and percussion to his rework of an old tune.  I am still floored by the pace that we are able to work comparing it to the old session.  The next session of this song will be vocals, edits, some minor instrumentation here and there, and then it will be time to mix.  I am excited to see the finishe product on this one more than most to put the old version up against the new.

HB Back To Rework A Song We Did Over 2 Years Ago

by Ryan Canestro on Jan.20, 2010, under Studio News

Henry was back in the studio on Monday to start a song that we started over two years ago.  He wanted to change the tempo and completely rewrote the lyrics.  We started from the top again.  This time I used Superior Drummer 2.0 to lay down the drum tracks.  We got them down better than ever much quicker than ever before.  I then laid an acoustic and bass track.  Two passes at each and we had a complete take on both after edit.

On the next visit we will drop strings, electric guitars, and vocals.  The first time around the whole process took about 4 days, this time I think that we can do it in half that time.  It is amazing how much things have changed over the past couple years and how much faster I can work and get better results in less time.

This Week In the Studio

by Ryan Canestro on Nov.25, 2009, under Studio News

This has been a busy week in the studio. Kevin Pugh was back to record two more original tracks and we added drums to a song that we had previously recorded. HB came in the next day to work on his new track You Define My Love. Yesterday David Baldwin came in to lay some guitar tracks in HB’s song Move on and then I did several hours of edits to the drum tracks to finish up the tune. I am sure with Thanksgiving tomorrow, things will quiet down for a few days.
