Kevin Feldman AKA Dr. Folkman came back to the studio to sit down and talk about the entire process of recording his album. I wanted to do a nice write up, but there was so much information I decided an interview was the way to go. The interview went very well and we enjoyed reliving the great moments of the sessions. Take a listen.

How do you get that dirty blues sound on a porch in a studio? I though it sounded perfectly logical to build a porch in the studio! I went straight out to my trusty wood pile and got a few pieces of plywood and a couple 2x4s and got to it. To add a little more realism, we threw down a glass slide, some loose change, and some spare parts from an old patchbay right on top. Why not, right? After that, I had Kevin slip on some dress shoes with a hard rubber bottom. Lucky for us both and we both wear the same size. I grabbed a pair and we were off and running… so to speak.
Another great session here and we will be back at it next week before he is off to Europe for a bit.
Today we started tracking another original track that Kevin has written. This track is a little different stylistically than the songs that we have tracked recently, but still with the great blues and soul feel. It has been a pleasure working with Kevin and look forward to many more productive session going forward.
Kevin has been coming to the studio every week to complete his first full album. At this pace, he certainly will! He will also be back this week to continue. Here is a little video clip of the vocal session from last week. Another two tracks came close to being finished this session. It has certainly been on!
Kevin make it back to the studio today. We were able to get one song from beginning to end, edit the one that we started last session, and get through most of a new track. That is some serious progress in one 8 hour session. Two great blues tracks played with a dobro through a small tube amp blowing up. Pretty hard to go wrong on getting great tone there. Another great session and we will be back in the studio together next week.
Kevin AKA Dr. Folkman was in the studio last week to work on his first recording session. He has been playing out live as much as he can lately to develop his material and his act and was finally ready to come in and lay some of it down. We had a great time and got a lot of work done in a short amount of time. He was joined by his friend Bobbi who also played percussion and laid down background vocals. Good times had by all.
