Cameron and Friends Rock the Studio
by Ryan Canestro on May.20, 2010, under Studio News
Cameron Mooney along with his band Ben Simonds, Josh Jeffers, and Ali Hall were in the studio this Sunday cutting tracks for two of Cameron’s tunes. We were able to get drums, bass, piano, strings, vocals, and backing vocals done. It was pretty cool to use the new (100 year old) piano in the living room of the house on the tracks. It worked out great. This was a great group to work with and I look forward to getting a chance to do it again soon.

Cameron Mooney Cut Scratch Tracks Yesterday
by Ryan Canestro on Apr.10, 2010, under Studio News
Cameron Mooney was in studio yesterday to cut the scratch tracks for 4 songs that will be finished up here in about two weeks. If the basic tracks are any indication how the project will go, this will be an amazing finished project. I look forward to seeing what we have when we cross the finish line.
Updates
by Ryan Canestro on Mar.11, 2010, under Studio News
There has been so much activity lately that I have not had a chance to make individule posts for each one.
I will be popping up on several different shows this month promoting the studio and the Home Recording Show. Most of what I have done has already been recorded and will be coming soon.
I finished up the grounding issue that I found in one of the ribbon microphone modifications that I just finished. Adding a little jumper wire did the trick. I love the simple fixes that just work the first time out.
Cameron Mooney just came by with a Rhodes keyboard. I am going to break out the soldering iron to fix a few shorts that have made the beautiful instrument not preform as it should. It will be with me for the next month or so and I plan to play with it as much as time will allow while it is with me. One day, I will certainly have one for the studio.
As we recommended on the podcast, I got the Steven Slate drum package. There are so many great drum sounds that will certainly be used on many sessions going forward. There is a great Zeppelin kit that is so close to that When the Levee Breaks sound.
Plans and materials for construction of gobos and a new equipment rack have been put together. Now I just need the time to actually build them.
Far less exciting, but still something worth mentioning is that I completel refinished the bathroom floor in the studio. All of the grout work is as it should be and sealed. It was actually more of a dramatic end result than I had expected before I started.
Jerrid and Shane Get Studio Time for Christmas
by Ryan Canestro on Dec.28, 2009, under Studio News
Two very thoughtful young ladies got their boyfriends Jerrid and Shane studio time here at Ditch Road Records. Two days after Christmas they were in for the session. Both had an original song and we got them both finished in one day. We even added just about a full band to each track too. Both guys were amazing talents with great songs and voices. We got more done in a day that I would have ever planned for. I look forward to working with them both in the future with a little more time for their individual or combined efforts going forward.
