Kristen is back to Ditch Road Records to work on a track for a producer that may be used by a very big name pop singer. Always a pleasure to work with Kristen on anything that she brings in.

Royce came to Ditch Road Records to work on her track “Want You to Go”. It was a very productive session. We got most of the music tracked as well as the vocals. We have no idea why, but near the end of the session while we were tracking vocals there was a huge fireworks display in the middle of town. We had to take a little break as the large booms were making it onto the track.

 

On the album project that was one of the most ambitious projects that the Travis, the studio, and myself have ever taken on… we are so close to the end I can smell it.  The only thing that stopped us around 4 am from recording the last guitar track was a broken capo.  We have maybe an hour or two of tracking and then we are off to do the final mixes.  It is pretty safe to say that the this album will be done in two more sessions.  Good thing too because Travis has written about 3 double albums already that are sitting there waiting!  Great vocal takes the other night and one of the most productive sessions on the entire project.

Here is a great video that Maurice Moore brought to the studio to capture the actor’s voice for the project.  This has been out for a little while now, but I just realized that is had been released fairly recently.  All the credits are listed below.

Cameron Mooney and Ali Hall came into the studio this weekend to track 3 new songs.  Two and a half got finished in that time.  Not bad for a 5 hour session!  Most of this video presented here is them tracking scratch and guide tracks.  I was too busy when we were cutting the actual recordings to shoot the video!  They are both great to work with and it is exciting to watch them work together.  It had been almost a year to the day last time they were in the studio.  This time I have a feeling that it will be a bit sooner when I see them again next time.

The last time Kristen was in the studio was at the end of 2009!  What has she been up to in that time?  As it turns out, just about everything and she is still only 17!  She has preformed at a private event for Grammy Foundation, with Keith Urban at UCLA’s Starry Night Concert, El Rey Theatre, Roxy Theater, Canyon Club, NAMM 2009, Malibu Inn, and Disneyland’s California Adventure to name a few.  Next week she is heading off to Grammy Camp in New York and will play a showcase in Times Square.  Basically the normal life of most soon to be seniors in high school.

It has been a while since Erin has been in the studio, but she is back.  There will be more sessions to come soon as well.  Time to get started on making some more music.  Today’s session was a lot of fun.  Her Father Dave has not been to previous sessions, but was able to come today and join in on the fun.  He laid down some great acoustic rifs.  Good times had by all and another song has been recorded for the ages.

Alene Taylor came into the studio to write a new song the other day.  With the help of Travis Jay Christofil on lyrics, we made it happen.  In just 8 hours, we took the three lines of lyrics that she came in with into a finished song complete with drums, percussion, bass, 5 guitars, B3 organ, and several layers of vocals.  A quick mix, a little limiting compression at the end and she was out the door.  Here is what some of that session looked and sounded like.
