Here is a great video that Maurice Moore brought to the studio to capture the actor’s voice for the project.  This has been out for a little while now, but I just realized that is had been released fairly recently.  All the credits are listed below.

Cameron Mooney and Ali Hall came into the studio this weekend to track 3 new songs.  Two and a half got finished in that time.  Not bad for a 5 hour session!  Most of this video presented here is them tracking scratch and guide tracks.  I was too busy when we were cutting the actual recordings to shoot the video!  They are both great to work with and it is exciting to watch them work together.  It had been almost a year to the day last time they were in the studio.  This time I have a feeling that it will be a bit sooner when I see them again next time.

The last time Kristen was in the studio was at the end of 2009!  What has she been up to in that time?  As it turns out, just about everything and she is still only 17!  She has preformed at a private event for Grammy Foundation, with Keith Urban at UCLA’s Starry Night Concert, El Rey Theatre, Roxy Theater, Canyon Club, NAMM 2009, Malibu Inn, and Disneyland’s California Adventure to name a few.  Next week she is heading off to Grammy Camp in New York and will play a showcase in Times Square.  Basically the normal life of most soon to be seniors in high school.

Kevin Feldman AKA Dr. Folkman came back to the studio to sit down and talk about the entire process of recording his album.  I wanted to do a nice write up, but there was so much information I decided an interview was the way to go.  The interview went very well and we enjoyed reliving the great moments of the sessions.  Take a listen.

It has been a while since Erin has been in the studio, but she is back.  There will be more sessions to come soon as well.  Time to get started on making some more music.  Today’s session was a lot of fun.  Her Father Dave has not been to previous sessions, but was able to come today and join in on the fun.  He laid down some great acoustic rifs.  Good times had by all and another song has been recorded for the ages.

Alene Taylor came into the studio to write a new song the other day.  With the help of Travis Jay Christofil on lyrics, we made it happen.  In just 8 hours, we took the three lines of lyrics that she came in with into a finished song complete with drums, percussion, bass, 5 guitars, B3 organ, and several layers of vocals.  A quick mix, a little limiting compression at the end and she was out the door.  Here is what some of that session looked and sounded like.

Over the weekend Matt McGlynn (http://www.recordinghacks.com), Randy Coppinger (http://www.randycoppinger.com), and I shot out every ribbon microphone that we could get our hands on. Charles is a new client that found the studio via Google and booked an hour to see what I could do.  We crammed an entire vocal tracking session, edit, and mix into about 63 minutes.  We hit it off immediately and I look forward to the next session that he has already booked in just a couple days from now.

Maurice Moore and Nathan Huntley came into the studio today to do some ADR work on the upcoming file Sixufus.  I am currently doing the sound design on the project.  In the next couple days I will be finishing it up.  The understatement of this picture is that Nathan Huntley has a lot of screen time!  It is a great film and I am very happy to be a part of it.

The primary setup for tracking the dialog was to use the same shotgun mic that was used in the film.  I purchased the Audio Technica AT835b for the session and I needed a shotgun mic anyway.  Perfect timing.  It was sent FedEx to arrive today at 10am.  It came in a little early.  The session was booked at noon.  That is cutting it a little close, but it worked!  I use an Audio Technica AT4040 as a second and safety mic.

We got a lot of work done in a short amount of time and we managed to have a good time in there too.  Great guys.  Looking forward to many more projects with them both.

Jon is a very talented singer and songwriter.  He brought in several tracks to see what I can do with them.  We worked really well together and I hope to do more work with him in the very near future.  You can check out some of his work at the link below:
